Miguel Braceli is a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection between art, architecture and education. His practice is focused on participatory projects in public space. Most of these projects have been large scale works, developed in countries such as Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, México, Spain, Sweden, United States, and Venezuela. These works explore notions of borders, migrations, national identities and social-political conflicts, working from the geopolitical geography to a human scale.
He has exhibited in galleries, biennials, and important group shows in Latin America, Europe, and the United States. Braceli’s collective performances have presented in Matadero Madrid, LABoral Art Center, and the Museum of Contemporary Art MUAC UNAM with Hemispheric Institute NY. His most recent recognitions include Sondheim Prize Finalist (USA, 2020), Future Architecture Fellow (UE, 2019) Leslie King Hammond Fellowship Award MICA (USA,2018), Young Artist Award of the Principality of Asturias (Spain, 2018), Supertrama Public Art Competition Award (Spain, 2017), AICA International Artist award (2017) and AICA Emerging Artist award was bestowed on him by the International Association of Art Critics (Venezuela, 2014).
Braceli is also Associate Professor in the Faculty of Architecture at the Universidad Central de Venezuela, and has led various participatory and educational projects with institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art New York (MoMA), the Museum of Fine Arts of Caracas, the Embassy of United States and the Embassy of Spain in Venezuela. He has been a visiting professor in Schools of Architecture from Umeå University in Sweden, Catholic University of Chile, and University of Zulia in Venezuela. He is currently a Fulbright Scholar working and living in the United States.
Miguel Braceli es un artista multidisciplinario que trabaja en la intersección entre arte, arquitectura y educación. Su práctica se centra en proyectos participativos en el espacio público. La mayoría de estos proyectos han sido obras a gran escala, desarrolladas en países como Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, México, España, Suecia, Estados Unidos y Venezuela. Estos trabajos exploran nociones de fronteras, migraciones, identidades nacionales y conflictos sociopolíticos, trabajando desde la geografía geopolítica a una escala humana.
Ha expuesto en galerías, bienales e importantes muestras colectivas en América Latina, Europa y Estados Unidos. Las performances colectivas de Braceli se han presentado en Matadero Madrid, LABoral Art Center, y el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo MUAC UNAM con Hemispheric Institute NY. Sus reconocimientos más recientes incluyen Sondheim Prize Finalist (EE. UU., 2020), Future Architecture Fellow (UE, 2019) Leslie King Hammond Fellowship Award MICA (EE. UU., 2018), Premio al Artista Joven del Principado de Asturias (España, 2018), Premio Concurso de Arte Público Supertrama (España, 2017), premio AICA Artista Internacional (2017) y premio AICA Artista Emergente le fue otorgado por la Asociación Internacional de Críticos de Arte (Venezuela, 2014).
Braceli es también Profesor Asociado en la Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad Central de Venezuela, y ha liderado diversos proyectos participativos y educativos con instituciones como el Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York (MoMA), el Museo de Bellas Artes de Caracas, la Embajada de Estados Unidos y la Embajada de España en Venezuela. Ha sido profesor invitado en las Escuelas de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Umeå en Suecia, la Universidad Católica de Chile y la Universidad del Zulia en Venezuela. Actualmente es un becario Fulbright que trabaja y vive en los Estados Unidos.
